Coronavirus (COVID-19)
*Update as of Aug 4, 2020:
MSU's current policy is to continue to work remotely and avoid travel. Any MSU-related travel must be approved ahead of time. No one is allowed in the lab at this time. No one is allowed in an MSU building without a face mask; additionally everyone must wear face masks indoors and outdoors on the MSU campus.
Please view this MSU page for current updates: https://msu.edu/coronavirus/
In addition, please take these precautions below.
Wear a face mask when you cannot be farther than 6 feet away from other people, and when you are indoors regardless of social distancing.
It's important to remember the steps you can take to prevent the spread of any virus, including the flu:
Wash hands often with soap and water (for ~ 20 seconds with soap). If not available, use hand sanitizer. 20 seconds of handwashing roughly equates to saying the alphabet twice.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands.
Avoid contact with people who are sick. Maintain social distancing of 6 ft or more.
Avoid large crowds in areas where viruses are prevalent.
Stay home while you are sick and avoid close contact with others. If you are ill, call your doctor, and stay home until you're healthy. In addition to notifying your doctor, notify Phoebe and anyone else you’re working with if you are ill.
Cover your mouth/nose with a tissue or sleeve when coughing or sneezing.
Clean your doorknobs, light switches and commonly touched areas with disinfectant wipes frequently.

Lab Meetings & Project Meetings
Summer 2020 (all mtgs on Zoom)
Lab Meetings: every other Thursday @10am, starting May 29
Project meetings at other times (see email / calendar invites for: Frugivora, warmXtrophic, Macrosystems Biodiversity)
Lab Meeting & Project Meeting attendance expectations
For core members of the lab (graduate students, postdocs, undergraduates), attendance to remote Lab Meetings is expected unless you have a scheduling conflict. This is for several reasons: we want to make sure everyone is ok, we want to maintain our lab community even when we are working remotely, and we use the Lab Meeting times for announcements and sharing ideas. Undergraduates working over the summer should continue to work remotely, attend any additional project-level meetings, and communicate questions to Beth/Pat/Phoebe via the Project Google Doc. Graduate students and Postdocs should attend their project-level meetings in addition to the lab meeting, and update Phoebe/Pat with any questions or concerns between meetings via the specific Project Google Doc(s) or GitHub issue if it's related to code.
